Retrato a Julián Cánovas-Yañez.

Julián (elhombrequesecrea.com) es un amigo al que quiero mucho y al que tengo un profundo respeto por ser un artista completo y multidisciplinar. Julián es al mismo tiempo cineasta, escultor, pintor, fotógrafo y escritor. Hace tiempo que surgió la idea de hacerle un retrato que pudiera describir su capacidad creadora y su constante búsqueda por tratar de entender su cuerpo y espíritu. Todo esto me hizo reflexionar sobre su trabajo y me ayudó a desarrollar la idea de este trabajo fotográfico.
Por lo tanto, con esta serie fotográfica pretendo mostrar a un artísta que lucha por conocerse a si mismo y por darse forma o transformarse en un ser mejor.

Julián is a good friend who I deeply respect; he is a multidisciplinary and complete artist. He is, at the same time, film director, sculptor, painter, photographer and writer. He suggested time ago the idea of doing a portrait of him that could describe his capacity of creating and his constant research to understand his body and spirit. All these made me think about his work and helped me to develop the idea of this work.
Therefore, with this photograph series I intend to show an artist fighting to get to know and shape himself and turn into a better human being.

Alejandro Maestre Gasteazi (Murcia, 1979) se dedica a la creación fotográfica, la docencia y a la investigación de nuevas técnicas de posproducción digital. Estudió fotografía en la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña (CITM), donde trabajó becado como profesor de iluminación. Ha impartido clases durante más de 10 años en diversas escuelas de Barcelona ( IDEP, CEV, GrisArt, CREA Formación), así como en centros de formación profesional (Centro de Tecnologías Avanzadas de Zaragoza, CTA) y centros cívicos (Can Basté, Pati Llimona, etc). En el año 2003 fundó y dirigió CitizenPixel, empresa especializada en la producción de imagenes publicitarias realizando trabajos para grandes marcas (Audi, Burberry, Mayoral, Industrias Cosmic) en colaboración con las principales agencias publicitarias (Contrapunto, BBDO, CP Interactive). Actualmente es coordinador de Arte-Facto (arte-facto.org) una escuela de formación On-Line de fotografía donde imparte cursos de posproducción digital.

I studied photography at the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña (CITM), where I worked as lighting teacher. I’ve tought for more than 10 years at several schools from Barcelona (IDEP, CEV, GrisArt, CREA Formación), and also in Vocational Training Centres (Centro de Tecnologías avanzadas de Zaragoza, CTA) and Community Centres (Can Basté, Pati Llimona, etc). In 2003 I founded CitizenPixel, a company specialised in production of advertising images, in which I had the chance to work for important companies such as Audi, Burberry, Mayoral or Industrias Cosmic, in cooperation with the main advertising agencies (Contrapunto, BBDO, CP Interactive). Currently, my career as a photographer has two main aspects: On one hand, I work as trainer and I research on new digital postproduction techniques, and on the other hand I work as independent photographer (author photography and to order). I’m the coordinator of Arte/Facto (www.arte-facto.org), an on-line training school where I teach digital postproduction.
